We oppose the proposed constitutional amendment (CI-100) referred to as the Fetal Personhood Amendment that would redefine "personhood" to include all stages of human development or life, including the state of fertilization, regardless of age, health, level of functioning, or condition of dependency. The amendment would grant “a paramount and fundamental right to life.”
Passage of this amendment would undermine medical decision-making for pregnant women and health care providers, which often must be done quickly and under terrific stress.
By signing this endorsement, we agree to help build a broad-based coalition to defeat the amendment. We also agree that our name may be listed as a member of Montanans for Safe and Healthy Families and as endorsers of the coalition efforts.
